[Featured] Borderless Coffee — Heritage Collection on Victoria

The space: Being pretty much a hole-in-the-wall establishment, Borderless Coffee operates as a takeaway kiosk considering how the espresso bar takes up almost the entire space within the shophouse; there is only a small area left in front of the counter for patrons to enter to make their orders within the air conditioned area of its space. With that being said, Heritage Collection on Victoria has a small area set up right beside the shophouse where wooden benches can be found; Borderless Coffee also operates via a small open window from that area where one can also place orders with their staff without having to route themselves into the air-conditioned space.

The food: The Lemon Cake was an item that caught our attention very early on whilst skimming through the selection of sweet treats that they have to offer — the cake bearing an aesthetic that is reminiscent to that of the actual fruit. Slicing through the cake, the cake does come with a sugary lemon glaze over the top; this is pretty much a simple pound cake at heart that comes shaped with a slightly more interesting presentation that gives it a different sort of appeal — we did like how the cake does come with an adequate level of denseness without feeling too clumpy, yet at the same time carried that tart and zippy notes of lemon zest amidst the sugary sweetness that complimented that citrus-y zing really well.

With Borderless Coffee finding a more permanent home now; their espresso-based specialty coffee offerings being quite a highlight that would work especially well as a grab-and-go whilst going around in the Kampong Glam neighbourhood under sweltering heat these days.
